Teenager dies in Yardley car and lorry crash


A 17-year-old boy died in a crash involving a car suspected of failing to stop for police and a lorry.The boy, a passenger in the VW Golf car, died at the scene on Church Road, Yardley. A second 17-year-old was taken to hospital where he is in a serious condition, police said.A third boy, also 17, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and theft of a motor vehicle. The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has been informed and is investigating. In a statement, it said: “The IPCC understands that the Golf had failed to stop for police shortly before the collision.”Initial accounts have been taken from officers and body worn and in-car footage is being gathered.”The road was closed for a number of hours while investigations were carried out.
