West Coast main line disrupted after cables damaged

Rail passengers across England face disruption after electric wires in London were damaged.West Coast main line services between London Euston, Watford Junction, Birmingham and Manchester are affected.More than 500m in the Wembley area needs to be replaced after it was damaged on Friday, Network Rail said.Engineers were working “as quickly as possible” a spokesman said, but disruption was likely to last until Sunday morning. He said the company was “unsure at this stage of the cause of the damage”.”Two out of four lines have to be closed to carry out these repairs so passengers travelling on the West Coast main line in and out of Euston will be affected by delays as the timetable is adjusted,” he added. “Our engineers are on site today and tonight, continuing to work to repair the damage as quickly as possible. “We’re asking everyone to check National Rail Enquiries before they travel so they have the most up-to-date information.” Passengers using Virgin and London Midland services are affected by the cable damage. Both operators are warning that services running to and from Watford Junction and Euston stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes.
